When manually entering a Valid From or Valid Through value (eg on a Person Role, though this probably affects other contexts with datetime fields), simply entering a date causes a validation error since no time was populated. A default value for the time should be inserted under this circumstance (00:00:00 for valid_from, 23:59:59 for valid_through).

There's also an issue I can't reliably reproduce where the Valid Through date will populate with 00:00:00 as the time instead of 23:59:59, but I can't figure out the exact sequence to make it happen.
