Ensure the collapsed main menu doesn't improperly reveal expanded menu content

Now that there is more than one expandable menu, the main menu drawer can get into this state:

Make sure it does not.

To reproduce:

1. With the left menu expanded, (using the hamburger menu at the top), click on “People” to expand this submenu
2. Collapse the left menu by clicking on the hamburger menu. The people sub menu disappears and the left menu collapses to display only icons
3. Click on the groups icon to expand its submenu. This action expands the left menu AND opens the groups submenu
4. Click on the People icon to expand its submenu. This action results in the image to the right.
5. Click back and forth between groups and people - this action toggles the expanded/collapsed state of the left menu
