Enhancements for Password and Email Dashboard Widgets

    XMLWordPrintable

Details

    Description

Password and Email Address Dashboard Widgets:

      • General:
        • The messages displayed when client-side validation fails don't pass WCAG contrast guidelines (eg. when you enter a password that is less than 8 characters).
        • The server-side messages don't (always?) seem to respect the messages as configured in widgets' lang.php files. Eg., the password widget has the settings 'pl.passwordwidget.info.add.success' => 'The password was added.' and 'pl.passwordwidget.info.update.success' => 'The password was changed.' but when the user adds or changes their password all they see is "success". This is also the case for the Email Address widget.
      • Password Widget:
        • The glyph that appears in password errors is a background image needs to pass WCAG contrast guidelines
        • If a user enters the wrong current password, the failure message is "Current password is required". It should be something like "Incorrect current password."
        • When a user edits their password the button to submit is "Reset Password". It should be "Update Password" or "Change Password". It might be nice if there was an "Reset Password" option that would allow the user to actually reset their password, but this is not what it does.
        • There is no client-side validation to check whether the user has entered a current password before sending a request to the server.
