Description
Chris Hyzer: Should we give guidance on when to use the "test" folder in the prod grouper deployement, and when to use a non-prod grouper deployment? Have we even gotten consensus on such a recommendation?
- Guidance on when to use the test: folder - Chris Hyzer
- 3 options for test environments:
-
- 1. environment for testing Grouper,
- 2. High level folder and delegate orgs from there,
- 3 testing in an org folder
- Add best practices for Various test environments, to test the software or to test applications,
- At Penn, there was a test environment used for password changer
- At Lafayette, test environment is used for analysis, production style string tests, be sure it’s working end to end , things not yet for production
- Lafayette has separate testing Grouper, test QA Grouper, could also be used in other ways, it would be good to have examples from the community of current practices
- Test type attribute you can put on a folder
- Important tip: Don’t use non production environment for something that will need to be up during the institution’s grouper maintenance or upgrade testing
